Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Hundreds of Hindus have fled their homes in Dhulian, Murshidabad, citing fear and unrest in the area. The displaced families took boats from the Dhulian ferry ghat and crossed over to Parlalpur High School in Kaliachak Block No. 3 of Malda district, seeking safety and shelter.
Located under the jurisdiction of Vaishnavnagar police station, the school has turned into a makeshift relief centre. Over 500 individuals, including the elderly, women, and children, are now living in the school premises with minimal resources.
Local residents and community members in Kaliachak have stepped forward to assist the refugees, distributing drinking water and dry food to help them cope with the sudden displacement. Many of the families arrived with nothing but the clothes they were wearing, their faces reflecting fear and uncertainty about the future.
Meanwhile, twelve more people were arrested on Sunday in connection with the violence after overnight raids, police said, taking the total number of arrests to 150. Police also stated that the situation in Suti, Dhulian, Samserganj, and Jangipur areas is peaceful.
